Woman completely renovates her old caravan for just £ 250 to turn it into an incredibly stylish home
AFTER snatching up an old trailer from the 1980s, a woman decided to transform the old house on wheels into a stylish new rug.
Arming herself with reusable materials, such as old kitchen curtains and wood, a box of fresh paint, and plenty of finishing touches, the DIY fan has completely renovated the interior into a stunning bohemian-inspired escape.
Cajsa Olsson, a 55-year-old Swedish grandmother, shared the final transformation with others on social media – posting before and after photos on the Upcycleit Facebook group and via her Instagram page.
She explained that the whole project took her around a month and a half and cost her around 3,000 Swedish Kronor (£ 250) in total.
Speaking to Fabulous, she revealed that she took inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram when deciding how to decorate her trailer.
“I took inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram, for example, and created my own style with things I love like peace signs, mandalas, wood materials, etc. “
Much of the work she has done on her own, having gathered advice from her family as well as the internet.
Casja said: “I have always been interested in painting, carpentry, sewing … it has taught me a bit over the years. My dad was a carpenter and my partner is a painter so they took me over. learned some [skills] too much.”
To keep costs down, Casja practically updated the trailer by hand and worked with what she already had to recycle the materials.
Instead of ripping off the furniture already inside, Casja, who initially bought the caravan from a friend for 4,800 Swedish kronor (around £ 404), gave it a facelift – choosing to paint the interior dull and drab. in white to give it a fresher feel.
The kitchen area sits in the middle of the interior of the trailer and, wanting it to feel like a separate space, Casja painted the wooden kitchen units a contrasting dark gray using a ” ordinary water-based wall paint “.
The sink area was created from an old light wood kitchen table she previously owned and she cleverly created the illusion of tiles using mandala stencils and a white outline.
Casja also updated the old-fashioned floor and ditched the caravan’s original retro patterned floor for a sleek vinyl rug – salvaged from her native Sweden – that complemented the colors of her walls.
Each area of ââthe caravan is separated by a linen curtain to divide the space and make the interior more private – Casja even transforming an old cabinet into a hidden portable toilet.
The two seating areas on either side of the trailer double as beds, with Casja giving the trailer a much warmer feel with cool white bedding, patterned throws with tasseled edges, and plenty of bunk pillows and blankets.
And the interior is dressed in on-trend accessories, including braided rope holders, wooden accessories, and houseplants to add a splash of color.

Sharing a brief description of her renovation project on Facebook, Casja posted alongside a series of photos documenting the transformation: âHello. This is my little 1980 Adria 305 trailer … which I converted from an old caravan in a small rolling house.
âHope you like it. It took me a month and a half to do the actual renovation, but since then I’ve been improving it since last summer. I’ve mainly reused different things.
“For example, the sink is an old kitchen table, the small table I made myself from recycled planks, and the awning are my old kitchen curtains.”
Her post garnered thousands of likes from other DIY fans, with hundreds of renovation comments and questions on Casja in an attempt to get tips for their own projects.
âVery classy. I can’t believe what you have installed in space,â said an impressed fan.
Another wrote: âSo smart! What did you use on the floor? And did you replace the closet doors or just paint them? Looks fantastic. “
A third posted: “Simply beautiful. I couldn’t believe that such a small space is so amazing inside. Well done !!”
“Words can’t tell how impressed they are! It’s beautiful,” another approved.
For more makeovers at home, a couple revamp a hideous trailer for next to nothing – and the transformation is amazing.
Plus, a DIY fan turns a drab caravan into a dream home on a budget and people think it looks better than most homes.
And one woman reveals, “I’m a slim first-time buyer, but people can’t believe the shine I gave to my new build – and it was all on a budget.”
