Text description provided by the architects. Fenghuang Lake CBD is the densest block of global leading enterprises in the segmented industry in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Since 2010, with the completion of Zhenshi Hotel and Zhenshi Headquarters Tower, the two high-rise buildings of Fenghuang Lake, located south and north of the lake, have become a landmark of the city. During the period, the manufacturing industry has become the national economic center, and China JushiGroup, the world’s largest fiberglass company, is also experiencing rapid growth. In 2016, the client approached GN Architects again and began discussing positioning a new tower as Jushi’s headquarters. In a rapidly changing environment, the client wanted the building to be able to adapt to the current state of use, enough flexible space to manage efficiency and more room for value transformation in the future. Jushi Tower, located on the central axis of Fenghuang Lake CBD in Tongxiang City, faces Feng Huang Lake Park to the south and adjacent to CBD Central Park to the east, was officially opened in May 2022 .

Construction of the functional program. At present, the evolution of science and technology and the iteration of working models are accelerating, and the function and space of certainty are becoming shorter and shorter. In this case, we have to rethink the existing model of office space. In the use of space, the more precise the limit, the less efficient it is, so the adaptation-based tolerance design is a key point this time. The main body of the building consists of two towers, 120m and 60m. The tower is connected by a two-story activity center, a mid-perpendicular overhead connector that serves as the building’s living ground and is accessible to people at all levels.

The main reason for the final choice of this shape is that the three bodies of the main building, the secondary building and the air activity center, are lapped with “┏┫”, which are the best in terms of maximum viewing rate, the degree of freedom of integration, the flexibility of operation and the efficiency of the service. In order to make the relationship between the tower and the connector more natural, we made different sections of the three volumes and made the facade mechanism conform to this form-section relationship, forming an angle of 12° with the vertical plane, so to build a single curtain wall system. The main part of the podium is a service function that extends along the projection of the two buildings, including the large conference hall, restaurant, visitor center, swimming pool and other auxiliary functions. The inner courtyard and the entrance hall formed by the podium are on the same axis.

The Corridor of Heaven. The air corridor is located at a height of 60 meters at the top of the sub-building. The two-story steel structure is cut to produce 5 sloping glass surfaces, including display, conference rooms, staff training, leisure bar, fitness and other functions. The roof garden at the top of the platform extends towards the lake, offering a panoramic view of Fenghuang Lake and the best employee recreation center in the area.

Hall and Court. The two lower floors of the two towers cross to form a transverse space of about 100 meters, longitudinally connected to an aquatic courtyard, forming a T-shaped hall. Wide side spaces are places of reception, circulation of people and ritual activities; The longitudinal courtyard cloister connects the main building and auxiliary functions, and the water view of the courtyard extends into the hall to form a flexible central axis, increasing the sense of image and the depth of entry . The lobby uses 10m high ultra-white glass, which extends the upper oblique curtain wall and tapers near the floor. The canopy is shaped by two triangular sheets, corresponding to the sectioning technique of the whole building. With the rhythmic texture of the walls of the main building as a backdrop to create a remarkable arrival experience field, The asymmetrical treatment is controversial for a group headquarters building, it is the last part of the building, Fortunately , the client respects the advice of the designer and the final result is pleasing. The main material of the canopy is anodized aluminum plate, which can reveal thick metallic light in all kinds of light.

Curtain wall inclined at 12°. The block of the building mass has been tilted several times, forming a small tilt angle, in accordance with the tilt angle, the main body of the building adopts the unity curtain wall tilted at 12 degrees. The separation area of the curtain wall is a parallelogram and these oblique bars are continuous on the deployment surface, rising around the building. Slash is also the “curtain wall structure system, fan, exterior lighting system” and other functions, the fan hidden in the glass has the function of sound insulation, and can be continuously ventilated for 24 hours, basically unaffected by the external environment. The curtain wall lights are concealed in the oblique line. We need light visibility at every angle and make sure the light beads are invisible during the day. At the same time, the fly flake is split to ensure the effect and produce new details on the components of the curtain wall.

Fenghuang Lake has become a new city center. In May, Tongxiang released an official announcement that Jushi Tower was officially put into operation. It also means that after 15 years, at different times, we have reached a value consensus with the city and our customers, and we have designed a series of works that are slowly bringing new and beautiful changes to the natural ecology, to business growth, industrial development, and even the urban evolution of the Phoenix Lake CBD area.
