Starline Costumes of San Antonio closes after 50 years

A longtime specialty store in San Antonio is preparing loyal customers and local fans for its closure early next year. As spooky season and creative clothing time takes over, Starline Costumes let fans know in a Facebook post that it will be closing in 2023 after 50 years.

“After 50 years of costumes all over South Texas and creating mascots for customers across the country, this is the final curtain call for Starline Costumes,” the small business read on Facebook. “Our family is grateful to our customers and the community of San Antonio for the many decades of support. We’ve loved serving multiple generations of customers, hearing your stories, and seeing all the photos you’ve shared with us.

The local favorite, located at 1286 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78228, has supplied costume needs for theater productions, community and school plays, and parties for decades. Prior to closing, Starline Costumes will only sell costumes, eliminating the rental option, and will no longer receive inventory. The company’s remaining stock of merchandise, including costumes, wigs, hats, special effects makeup and a variety of props, will be on sale at a reduced price.

Starline Costumes is open Tuesday through Saturday, but will have seasonal hours in the coming months.
