With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in theaters, we wanted to revisit this great video from 2018. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon staff told fans they were shooting videos to send to Black Panther Chadwick Boseman, thanking him and telling him what the movie means to them. But they had King T’Challa himself hidden behind the curtain, ready to come out and surprise them. It was beautiful and touching at the time, but it’s even truer in the wake of Boseman’s tragic passing. It’s truly striking to see these fans express their feelings about the film and his performance, and to see how much the outpouring of love clearly meant to him.
There is also this nice video Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Co-star Lupita Nyong’o shared in 2018 that Boseman signed everything fans gave him…movie tickets, Jordans, whatever.
The new film is very much about the loss of Chadwick Boseman and much of the film’s publicity and promotion has focused on the actors and filmmakers paying tribute to their friend. But they also managed to have fun along the way. One of the highlights of the cast promoting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever saw Kenyan-Mexican Lupita Nyong’o dance merengue and mambo with Mexican co-stars Tenoch Huerta and Mabel Cadena.
